Job summary

Kemp Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Quality Inspector in Dorking to join the Quality Assurance team. The role involves performing first-off, in-process and final inspections, supporting calibration, and contributing to continuous improvement within the QMS.

You will inspect components, assist with FAI/NPI activities, and help investigate quality issues with a methodical approach. Strong attention to detail is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quality Inspector/Technician/QA in manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience using micrometers, verniers, height gauges and other measuring tools.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspections of components.
• Perform 100% inspections when required and complete inspection reports.
• Conduct goods-inwards inspections to verify incoming materials.
• Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and New Product Introduction (NPI).
• Maintain calibration of inspection equipment.
• Assist with engineering changes and corrective actions.
• Investigate quality issues and support root-cause analysis.
• Maintain accurate quality records and compliance with the QMS.
• Promote housekeeping and health & safety standards in the workshop.

Overview

Quality Inspector role based in Dorking. Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm. Salary: Up to £36,000 basic. This opportunity is for an experienced quality professional to help ensure products meet high quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. You will work within the Quality Assurance team, carrying out inspections, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, investigating quality issues and helping maintain compliance with the Quality Management System.

Responsibilities

• Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspections of manufactured components and assemblies.
• Perform 100% inspections where required and complete accurate inspection reports.
• Conduct goods-inwards inspections to ensure incoming materials meet specifications.
• Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
• Perform dimensional inspections using a variety of measuring equipment.
• Organise and maintain calibration of inspection equipment.
• Assist with Engineering Change Requests and Engineering Change Orders.
• Support investigations into non-conforming products and quality issues.
• Work alongside Quality Engineers to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate quality records and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).
• Promote excellent housekeeping and Health & Safety standards throughout the workshop.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience within a Quality Inspector, Quality Technician or Quality Assurance role.
• Experience working in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience using inspection equipment such as micrometers, verniers, height gauges and other measuring tools.
• Good understanding of dimensional inspection techniques.
• Knowledge of First Article Inspection (FAI) processes.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar Quality Management Systems is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
