Job summary

Fortress Recruit Limited is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join a busy manufacturing QA team in Burntwood, Staffordshire. The role focuses on maintaining quality standards and driving continuous improvement within a highly regulated environment such as aerospace or automotive.

You will manage customer complaints, investigations and 8D analyses, prepare FAIRs, and support PPAP and APQP activities while contributing to the QMS and internal audits.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quality Engineer in manufacturing.
• Experience in aerospace, defence, automotive or other highly regulated industries.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001; AS9100 or IATF 16949 experience advantageous.
• Experience with FAIRs, PPAP, APQP and quality investigations.
• Strong 8D and root cause analysis skills.
• Experience with quality documentation and inspection processes.
• Excellent communication, able to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Manage customer complaints, investigations and 8D/root cause analysis.
• Prepare and review FAIRs (First Article Inspection Reports).
• Support PPAP activities and contribute to APQP projects.
• Investigate non-conformances and implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Support and maintain Quality Management System (QMS) activities.
• Conduct internal audits and ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes.
• Work closely with customers, suppliers and internal engineering and manufacturing teams.
