Job summary

GSL Education Newcastle Branch is currently recruiting enthusiastic Qualified Teaching Assistants to work across a range of Primary Schools in the NE62 area of Northumberland.

As a TA, you will deliver engaging lessons, support pupils individually and in groups, and help manage behaviour, with flexible day-to-day, short-term and long-term opportunities and dedicated local support.

Qualifications

• Recognised Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualification or equivalent.
• Experience working with children in a school or educational setting.
• Enhanced DBS (Update Service) or willingness to apply for one.
• Positive and proactive approach to supporting children's learning and development.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
• Work with pupils individually and in small groups.
• Provide additional support to pupils who need help with learning and development.
• Assist with classroom management and promoting positive behaviour.
• Support pupils with SEND where required.

The Role

As a Qualified Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
• Working with pupils on an individual basis and in small groups.
• Providing additional support to pupils who require help with their learning and development.
• Assisting with classroom management and promoting positive behaviour.
• Supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) where required.
• Preparing classroom resources and supporting learning activities.
• Encouraging pupils to develop their confidence, independence and social skills.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other members of the school support team.
• Helping to create a positive, safe and engaging learning environment for all pupils.

Requirements

To be considered for the Qualified Teaching Assistant role, you should:

• Hold a recognised Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or an equivalent qualification.
• Have experience working with children within a school or educational setting.
• Demonstrate a positive and proactive approach to supporting children's learning and development.
• Be confident working with pupils individually and in small groups.
• Have strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• Be reliable, adaptable and enthusiastic.
• Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.

Experience supporting pupils with SEND, additional learning needs or challenging behaviour would be beneficial, although this is not essential for every available position.
