Job summary

GSL Education Newcastle Branch is seeking Qualified Teaching Assistants to work across primary schools in the NE62 area of Northumberland. Roles include day-to-day supply, short-term cover and long-term positions with flexible patterns.

As a Qualified Teaching Assistant, you will support teachers, assist with pupil learning, and help manage behaviour while promoting an inclusive learning environment. DBS updates and different work patterns are available.

Qualifications

• Hold a recognised Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
• Experience working with children within a school setting is preferred.
• Demonstrate a proactive approach to supporting learning and development.
• Confident working with pupils individually and in small groups.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• Reliable, adaptable and enthusiastic.
• Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
• Work with pupils on an individual basis and in small groups.
• Provide additional support to pupils who require help with learning and development.
• Assist with classroom management and promote positive behaviour.
• Support pupils with SEND where required.
• Prepare classroom resources and support learning activities.
• Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and social skills.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and other school staff.
• Help create a positive, safe and engaging learning environment.
