Job summary

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join schools across Sunderland from September 2026. This part-time, long-term opportunity supports pupils by delivering targeted help and creating an inclusive classroom environment.

You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs and parents, delivering 1:1 and small-group interventions, monitoring progress, and upholding safeguarding policies in line with school procedures.

Qualifications

  • Must hold Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting children in school or educational settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, caring and adaptable approach.
  • Ability to motivate and support pupil learning.

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in delivering lessons and planning resources.
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group intervention support.

Are you a qualified Level 3 Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity to support pupils in a welcoming and inclusive school environment?

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join schools across Sunderland from September 2026. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children's learning, working collaboratively with teaching staff, and making a meaningful impact on pupils' educational journeys.

We are looking for individuals who are patient, caring, and proactive, with the ability to build strong relationships and provide high-quality support to pupils of all abilities.

About the Role

As a Level 3 Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers to deliver engaging learning experiences, provide targeted support to individual pupils and small groups, and contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom environment. Your role will be instrumental in helping pupils develop academically, socially, and emotionally.

This is a part-time, long-term position starting in September 2026, and applicants must be available to work 5 days per week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons
  • Provide high-quality 1:1 and small group intervention support
  • Assist with lesson preparation, classroom organisation, and learning resources
  • Support pupils with a range of learning abilities, including those with additional needs
  • Encourage confidence, independence, and active participation in learning
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
  • Promote positive behaviour and an inclusive classroom culture
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals where appropriate
  • Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent Essential

  • Professional, reliable, and committed attitude
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
  • Available to work 5 days per week
