Job summary

Smile Education is recruiting on behalf of the Enquire Learning Trust for SEN Teaching Assistant roles at a Denton primary academy. Start dates in September 2026, with full-time, part-time and flexible opportunities and daily rates of £95–£110 depending on experience.

We seek caring, enthusiastic staff with excellent communication skills, patience and a positive, child-centered approach. A Level 2/3 TA qualification is desirable, with at least 6 months UK school-based experience.

The Role

• Support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
• Work alongside the class teacher to deliver engaging, inclusive learning activities.
• Adapt resources and learning strategies to meet individual pupil needs.
• Promote pupils' confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing.
• Support children with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech & Language needs, SEMH and other learning difficulties.
• Foster positive relationships with pupils, families, teachers and external professionals.
• Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
• Monitor pupil progress and contribute to individual support plans where appropriate.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
• A minimum of 6 months' UK school-based experience supporting children (relevant placements will also be considered).
• Previous experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy and a positive, child-centred approach.
• The ability to build trusting relationships and work effectively as part of a team.

Essential Requirements

• Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Smile Education.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Ability to provide references covering the previous two years, including at least one reference relating to work with children. Providing referee details during your pre-screen or registration appointment will help ensure a smooth compliance process and the quickest possible clearance.
