Job summary

Astro Education are seeking qualified Secondary Teachers with QTS for opportunities across Manchester and surrounding areas. You will deliver high‑quality lessons, build positive relationships with pupils and contribute to the wider life of the school. The roles are full‑time, long‑term, with term-time only scheduling and flexible long‑term opportunities.

The Role

As a Secondary Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality teaching and creating a positive learning environment where pupils are encouraged to achieve their full potential.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Planning and delivering engaging, challenging and effective lessons
• Teaching your specialist subject across the relevant year groups
• Following the school’s curriculum and maintaining high expectations
• Differentiating lessons to meet the needs of all learners
• Creating a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment
• Managing behaviour effectively and consistently
• Assessing, monitoring and recording pupil progress
• Providing constructive feedback to support pupil development
• Identifying and supporting pupils who require additional help
• Building positive and professional relationships with pupils
• Working collaboratively with colleagues and the wider school team
• Contributing to curriculum planning and development where required
• Supporting extracurricular activities and wider school initiatives
• Maintaining high standards of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
• Contributing positively to the wider life and ethos of the school

What We're Looking For

We are looking for qualified Secondary Teachers who hold QTS and are:

• Passionate about teaching and committed to improving outcomes for young people
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Confident planning and delivering high‑quality lessons
• Experienced within a secondary school environment, or an ECT ready to begin their teaching career
• Confident managing behaviour and maintaining high expectations
• Able to differentiate teaching to meet a range of abilities
• Strong communicators who work effectively with pupils and colleagues
• Adaptable, enthusiastic and willing to embrace a new school environment
• Organised, reliable and professional
• Committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
• Passionate about their subject and able to inspire pupils
• Keen to build positive relationships within a new school community
