QHSE Assistant

We are working with a leading organisation in the sustainable paper solutions and flexible plastic films industry. This company is committed to driving sustainability and circularity in waste management. They are seeking a motivated QHSE Assistant to join their team in Wigan, where you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental standards.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Assist the QHSE Manager in implementing and maintaining QHSE standards such as BRCGS, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
- Conduct site health and safety inductions for new employees and develop the culture of Safety, Compliance, Quality, and Continuous Improvement.
- Maintain compliance with environmental permits and legislation.
- Create and review risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Generate accurate QHSE data for management reporting.
- Participate in the site auditing schedule to ensure readiness for audits.
- Assist in investigating customer complaints and identifying corrective actions.
- Support the development and delivery of QHSE training and performance data.
- Provide QHSE support to employees and managers, facilitating effective communication within the team.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in implementing and improving standards such as BRCGS, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or ISO 45001.
- Previous experience in a QHSE role within a manufacturing environment is desirable.
- Qualifications such as Internal Auditor, HACCP Level 3, IOSH, or NEBOSH are advantageous but not essential.
- Strong decision-making, organisational, and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain a positive QHSE culture.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- A reasonable level of fitness is required for some physical activities involved in the role.
