Job summary

The Compleat Food Group is seeking a QA Technician to join our night-shift Technical Team at Nottingham. You will help maintain top standards of food safety, quality and compliance on site, with a 6pm–6am schedule across rotating weeks.

You’ll conduct factory walk rounds, support production on quality issues, perform taste tests, samplings and swabbing, and ensure pre-dispatch checks are completed to spec. A proactive, collaborative approach is essential.

Qualifications

  • QA or technical experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of food safety, allergens, and GMP principles.
  • Food Safety Level 2 qualification (or willingness to complete it).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily factory walk rounds to ensure GMP and hygiene standards across site.
  • Support production teams to resolve quality and technical issues with detailed investigations.
  • Perform taste panels and product reviews to ensure high standards.
  • Carry out swabbing, air plate testing, and product sampling; investigate out-of-spec results.
  • Complete Pre-Dispatch Verification checks and ensure products leave site to spec.
  • Support traceability exercises, audits, and complaint investigations with clear reports.
  • Assist with new product launches, ensuring labelling, coding, and metal detection are set up.
  • Promote Health & Safety best practices across all departments.

We're looking for an enthusiastic and detail-focused QA Technician to join our night-shift Technical Team and play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and compliance on site.

Working Hours: Week 1 Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 6pm - 6am Week 2 Thursday, Friday, Saturday 6pm- 6am

Salary: £38,547 per annum

Location: The Compleat Food Group, Queens Drive, Nottingham, NG2 1LU

What You'll Be Doing
  • Conducting daily factory walk rounds to ensure excellent GMP and hygiene standards across site.
  • Supporting production teams to resolve quality and technical issues, carrying out detailed investigations to prevent recurrence.
  • Performing taste panels and product reviews to make sure every bite meets our high standards.
  • Carrying out swabbing, air plate testing, and product sampling, investigating any out‑of‑spec results.
  • Completing Pre-Dispatch Verification checks and ensuring all products leave site safely and to spec.
  • Supporting traceability exercises, audits, and complaint investigations, providing clear and accurate reports.
  • Assisting with new product launches, ensuring labelling, coding, and metal detection systems are correctly set up.
  • Promoting Health & Safety best practices and supporting safe working across all departments.
What We're Looking For
  • Previous QA or technical experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of food safety, allergens, and GMP principles.
  • Food Safety Level 2 qualification (or willingness to complete it).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills - you enjoy working with others to achieve great results.
  • IT literacy, including Word, Excel, and technical data systems.
  • A proactive, can‑do attitude and pride in maintaining the highest standards.
