Job description

Job Title: Purchasing and Project Support Coordinator
Location: Wednesbury
Salary: £28,000–£30,000 (depending on experience)

We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Purchasing and Project Support Coordinator to join our growing team in Wednesbury. This role is ideal for someone with a background in engineering or manufacturing who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. You will play a vital role in supporting both purchasing functions and project management, requiring strong analytical skills and a sound understanding of engineering documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Interpret and break down bespoke engineering drawings to identify and source required materials and components.
  2. Execute and manage all purchasing activities—ensuring cost-effective, timely procurement aligned with project deadlines.
  3. Build and maintain strong supplier relationships; obtain quotations, negotiate pricing, and ensure compliance with quality and delivery standards.
  4. Support project planning and scheduling using Microsoft Project; update and maintain accurate project timelines.
  5. Assist in the creation, review, and control of quality documentation and compliance certifications.
  6. Collaborate closely with internal departments—ensuring alignment between purchasing, production, and quality functions.
  7. Track and report on project milestones, highlighting any issues or delays and supporting corrective actions.
  8. Maintain accurate records and documentation for all purchasing and project support activities in accordance with company standards and industry regulations.
  9. Proven ability to confidently read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
  10. Strong working knowledge of quality documentation processes in an engineering environment.
  11. Proficiency in Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  12. Experience in purchasing, supply chain coordination, or project support within an engineering or manufacturing setting.
  13. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  14. Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.
  15. Experience in bespoke manufacturing or project-based engineering environments.
  16. Understanding of ISO quality standards and regulatory compliance.
