Job summary

KPI Recruiting Ltd is seeking a proactive Purchasing & Logistics Coordinator for our Runcorn-based client, a sheet metal manufacturer. You will manage purchasing, costing and logistics, negotiating with suppliers and coordinating deliveries to keep production flowing.

We require strong negotiation and communication skills, a good eye for costings, and the ability to stay organised and multi-task in a busy manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a purchasing, buying, logistics or supply chain role.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the confidence to discuss pricing with suppliers.
• Good commercial awareness and an understanding of costings.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and resolving delivery issues.
• Good attention to detail when managing orders, stock and supplier information.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience within manufacturing or engineering would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Purchasing raw materials and ensuring materials are available to meet production requirements.
• Liaising with suppliers to obtain quotations, negotiate pricing and agree delivery dates.
• Managing and reviewing supplier costs to ensure competitive pricing.
• Preparing and maintaining accurate costings.
• Monitoring stock levels and identifying purchasing requirements to avoid shortages.
• Coordinating the transportation and delivery of incoming raw materials.
• Arranging deliveries of fabricated products to customers.
• Liaising with logistics providers to organise transport and resolve any delivery issues.
• Tracking orders and ensuring materials and finished goods arrive on time.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and transport providers.
• Keeping purchasing, costing and stock records accurate and up to date.
• Working closely with internal teams to ensure purchasing and delivery schedules run smoothly.
