Job description

Role: Purchase Ledger Clerk

Salary: £25,000 - £28,000

Location: Washington

My client, a leading bespoke manufacturer supplying clients across the UK, is looking to appoint a Purchase Ledger Clerk to join their Finance function. You will be responsible for managing and maintaining the company’s purchase ledger, ensuring that all purchase invoices are processed efficiently and accurately.

The Role:

·Accurately process purchase invoices from suppliers, ensuring they match purchase orders and delivery notes, and are correctly posted to the relevant nominal code

·Perform monthly supplier statement reconciliations, resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner

·Ensure supplier accounts are set up correctly and maintained in the company’s accounting system

·Maintain accurate and up-to-date purchase ledger records

·Calculate weekly hours worked for employees, ensuring accurate data is compiled for payroll processing. This includes checking timesheets, calculating overtime, and verifying attendance records

·Provide general administrative and clerical support to the Finance department, assisting with any ad-hoc tasks as needed.

The Person:

·Proven experience in a similar purchase ledger or accounts payable role

·Experience from the manufacturing, engineering or construction sector would be ideal, but not essential

·Strong understanding of purchase ledger processes, invoicing, and reconciliations

·Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to manage supplier relationships effectively

·Familiarity with accounting software and strong MS Excel skills

·Keen attention to detail.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a desire to be impactful to join an ambitious and rapidly growing business at an exciting time in their evolution. The role is Washington site-based and the hours are 8am - 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8am - 2pm on Friday.
