Job summary

Severndale Specialist Academy is seeking Personal Support Assistants to join the dedicated care team. You will support learners' personal care needs in a compassionate, hygienic and dignified way, helping them stay clean, comfortable and ready to learn.

Role involves 25 hours per week from 09:30 to 14:30, with potential duties across Monkmoor campus or Futures (Shrewsbury College) depending on learners' needs. Training for manual handling may be provided.

• Assist pupils with play, welfare and feeding during lunchtimes and receive training to support varied eating/drinking needs.

Job description

Our Personal Support Assistants are a key part ofthe support team at Severndale, enabling our learners’ personal care needs to be metin a compassionate, hygienic and dignified way, so that they are clean,comfortable, happy and ready to learn in their classrooms. We want our learnersto be as independent as possible, working to toilet train where their needsallow. Our PSAs are part of a team, who work together effectively to providecare across the academy, with each PSA usually allocated to a small number ofclasses, often working with a partner, managed by our Lead PSA.

The successful candidate will effectively support thepersonal care needs of pupils, with 25 hours workedfrom 09:30 to 14:30.Although we are currently recruiting aimed at Monkmoor campus, you may beexpected to work at either Monkmoor (Shrewsbury) or Futures (ShrewsburyCollege, London Road) depending on the needs of learners.

As part of the Pupil Support Assistant role overlunchtimes you will assist pupils with play, welfare and feeding of anindividual or small group of pupils. This will involve accessing training tosupport learners with different eating and drinking needs.
