Job summary

Horsham District Council is seeking an Environmental Cleansing Operative to join the Street Scene team. You will perform daily cleansing and collection duties, including litter picking on the highways and emptying bins, to keep the district clean in line with the Statutory Code of Practice.

You should be able to walk long distances, follow safety guidelines, work well in a team and communicate effectively with the public; driving a council vehicle will be required and training opportunities are

Qualifications

• Full driving licence required to drive a HDC non-LGV vehicle
• Ability to walk long distances and work in all weathers
• Punctual, team-oriented and able to communicate effectively with the public
• Willingness to follow health and safety policies and working methods

Responsibilities

• Carry out allocated daily cleansing and collection duties within prescribed timescales
• Litter picking the highways, emptying litter/dog bins and removal of fly tipping
• Work as part of the Street Scene team to maintain district cleanliness
