Job summary

Artis Recruitment is seeking an experienced Credit Controller to take ownership of outstanding debt across councils and public sector bodies, ensuring cash keeps moving and relationships remain strong.

You will navigate complex public sector payment processes, chase invoices diplomatically, investigate delays, and work with finance teams to reconcile accounts and report on collection performance.

Qualifications

• Experience in a credit controller role, ideally collecting debt from councils or public sector organisations.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to reconciling accounts and interpreting payment delays.

Responsibilities

• Manage and reduce aged debt across customer accounts.
• Proactively chase outstanding invoices with councils and local authorities.
• Investigate payment delays and resolve invoice queries.
• Build relationships with finance teams and accounts payable.
• Reconcile accounts and allocate payments accurately.
• Monitor credit limits and escalate problem accounts.
• Produce aged debt reports and report on collection performance.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues quickly.
