Job summary

Artis Recruitment is seeking a confident Credit Controller to take ownership of outstanding debt, focusing on councils, local authorities and other public sector bodies. You will manage the debtor ledger, chase overdue payments, and maintain cash flow while navigating complex public sector processes.

You should be an excellent communicator, highly organised and resilient, with strong reconciliation skills and the tact to handle difficult conversations professionally.

Qualifications

• Experience in a credit control role, ideally with councils or local authorities.

Responsibilities

• Manage and reduce aged debt across a portfolio of accounts.
• Proactively chase outstanding invoices with councils and local authorities.
• Investigate payment delays, resolve queries and address discrepancies.
• Build relationships with finance teams and accounts payable.
• Reconcile accounts and allocate payments accurately.
• Monitor credit limits and escalate problem accounts as needed.
• Produce regular aged debt reports and updates on collection performance.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues quickly.
