Artis Recruitment is seeking an experienced Credit Controller in the United Kingdom to lead the collection of outstanding invoices from councils and local authorities. The role focuses on navigating public sector payment processes, maintaining relationships, and ensuring cash flow stays on track.

You’ll manage aged debt, liaise with finance teams, and drive timely settlements while balancing professional integrity and persistence to protect customer relationships.

• Experience in a credit control role, with proven success collecting from councils or public sector bodies.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills with resilience.
• Strong reconciliation skills and problem-solving to resolve payment delays.

• Manage and reduce aged debt across a portfolio of customer accounts.
• Proactively chase outstanding invoices with councils and local authorities.
• Investigate payment delays, resolve invoice queries and address discrepancies.
• Build effective working relationships with finance teams and accounts payable departments.
• Reconcile customer accounts and allocate payments accurately.
• Monitor credit limits, identify risks and escalate problem accounts.
• Produce regular aged debt reports and provide updates on collection performance.
• Work closely with internal finance and operational teams to resolve issues quickly.
