Job summary

Nottingham City Council is offering a Permanent Public Realm Operative role in Grounds Maintenance at Eastcroft Depot, Nottingham. The position entails practical outdoor work including grass cutting, hedge cutting, pruning and litter clearance to maintain parks, housing estates and public spaces.

A valid driving licence and health and safety training are essential. The role is onsite, 37 hours per week, with pro rata pay for part-time arrangements where applicable.

Qualifications

• Essential qualifications: A current and appropriate driving licence, and willingness to complete health and safety training or other post-related certifications.
• Essential experience: Practical outdoor work such as grounds maintenance, gardening, grass cutting, hedge cutting, cleansing, estate maintenance, refuse/recycling, landscaping or similar frontline environmental services.
• Essential knowledge: Understanding of health and safety requirements, safe working practices, manual handling, and general gardening techniques.

Responsibilities

• Support upkeep and improvement of outdoor spaces across Nottingham.
• Perform grass cutting, strimming, hedge cutting, pruning, weeding, litter picking and general maintenance of communal areas and public spaces.
• Use hand tools and powered equipment following safe working practices.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions and in accordance with local safety standards.
• Collaborate with colleagues to keep areas clean, safe and welcoming for residents and visitors.
