Job summary

Nottingham City Council is seeking a Public Realm Operative within Grounds Maintenance at Woolsthorpe Depot in Nottingham. The role covers practical outdoor tasks such as grass cutting, hedge cutting, pruning, litter collection and general maintenance of communal spaces.

You will use hand and powered tools, follow safety protocols and help ensure spaces are clean, safe, and welcoming for residents and visitors.

Qualifications

• Essential qualifications: driving licence (where required) and willingness to complete relevant training such as health and safety.
• Essential experience: practical outdoor work in grounds maintenance, gardening, grass cutting or similar.
• Essential knowledge: health and safety requirements and safe working practices.
• Essential skills: reliable, flexible, ability to work outdoors, teamwork and customer care.

Responsibilities

• Support upkeep and improvement of outdoor spaces across Nottingham City.
• Perform grass cutting, strimming, hedge cutting, pruning, weeding and litter picking.
• Use hand tools, powered equipment and grounds maintenance machinery safely.
• Follow safe working practices and maintain clean, safe public spaces.
