Job summary

Nottingham City Council is seeking a Public Realm Operative in Grounds Maintenance at Woolsthorpe Depot, Nottingham. The role involves grass cutting, strimming, hedge cutting, pruning, weeding, litter clearance and general maintenance of communal spaces to keep areas clean, safe and welcoming for residents.

We offer a permanent contract with 21.5 hours per week, onsite work. Salary starts at £26,427 rising to £27,274 per annum, pro rata for part-time, with pension and leave entitlements as part

Qualifications

• Essential qualifications include a current and appropriate driving licence and willingness to complete relevant training.
• Experience in practical outdoor work such as grounds maintenance, gardening, grass cutting, hedge cutting or similar frontline environmental services.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements and safe working practices.
• Skills include a reliable, flexible, practical approach, ability to work outdoors in all weather, good teamwork and communication.

Responsibilities

• Grass cutting, strimming, hedge cutting and pruning to maintain outdoor spaces.
• Weeding, litter picking, leaf clearance and general maintenance of communal areas and parks.
• Use of hand tools and powered equipment following safe procedures.
• Work to ensure areas are clean, safe and welcoming for residents and visitors.
