Job summary

First Bus Swansea Depot, part of First Group, is seeking a NVQ3-qualified PSV/HGV Technician to maintain and repair fleet vehicles. The role offers hands-on diagnostics, servicing, and on-road support in a busy depot environment.

You will work a 39-hour minimum week with a rotation of early and late shifts, including occasional weekends. A UK driving licence and a passion for mechanics are essential for success.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair.
• Experience on HGV/PSV vehicles is desirable.
• UK driving licence is required.
• Strong attention to detail and passion for mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs on PSV/HGV.
• Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Respond to on-road breakdowns and recoveries as needed.
• Road test vehicles after maintenance and ensure documentation complies with regulations.

PSV/HGV Technician

Heol Gwyrosydd, Penlan, Swansea, SA5 7BN

We are now looking for an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Technician to join the busy team at our First Bus Swansea Depot – PSV or HGV mechanical experience is great however we love to hear from ex-Forces personnel with an engineeringapprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other automotive sectors looking for a change.

Key Details:

• £20.06 per hour
• Approx. £40,681 per annum
• Minimum 39 hours per week
• 5 days over 7 (including 1 weekend in 3)
• Rotation of early & late shifts
• Early 6am-2:30pm, late 2pm-10:30pm

In this hands-on role, you’ll keep vehicles running safely and reliably by diagnosing faults, completing mechanical repairs and replacing parts when needed. You’ll carry out scheduled servicing, routine inspections and preventative maintenance, as well as responding to on-road breakdowns and recoveries. You’ll also road test vehicles where required and make sure all documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Do you have a Level 3 NVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair?
• Do you have experience working on HGV or PSV?
• Do you have a valid UK driving licence?
• Do you also have a strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics?
