Job summary

First Bus is seeking a PSV/HGV Mechanic for Wells Depot. You'll diagnose faults, perform repairs, servicing and maintenance to keep vehicles safe and reliable.

Requires NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) and UK driving licence; PSV/HGV experience preferred, but ex-forces with engineering background also welcome. The role offers 39 hours/week, rotating shifts (6am-2pm and 10am-6pm), a £3,000 joining bonus, and a strong benefits package including health cover, pension, travel discounts, and

• Experience on HGV or PSV vehicles preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs on PSV/HGV vehicles.
• Carry out scheduled servicing, inspections, and preventative maintenance.
• Respond to on-road breakdowns and recoveries; road test as required.

PSV/HGV Mechanic

Location:

Wells Depot, Priory Road, Wells, BA5 1SZ

We are now looking for an NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic to join the busy team at our First Bus WellsDepot – PSV or HGV mechanical experience is great however we love to hear from ex-Forces personnel with an engineeringapprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other automotive sectors looking for a change.

Key Details:

• £19.70 per hour
• Minimum 39 hours per week
• Approx. £ 39,951 per annum
• Monday 6am-2pm, Tuesday-Friday 10am-6pm
• £3,000 JOINING BONUS!

In this hands-on role, you'll keep vehicles running safely and reliably by diagnosing faults, completing mechanical repairs and replacing parts when needed. You'll carry out scheduled servicing, routine inspections and preventative maintenance, as well as responding to on-road breakdowns and recoveries. You'll also road test vehicles where required and make sure all documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards.

What We're Looking For

• Do you have a Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair?
• Do you have experience working on HGV or PSV?
• Do you have a valid UK driving licence?
• Do you also have a strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics?
