Job summary

First Bus Lowestoft Depot is seeking a NVQ3 (or City & Guilds equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic to join our busy team. You will diagnose faults, carry out repairs, service vehicles and respond to breakdowns to keep buses running safely.

PSV/HGV Mechanic

Location:

Lowestoft Depot, Gas works Road, Lowestoft, NR32 1UZ

We are now looking for an NVQ Level 3 (or C&G equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic to join the busy team at First Bus Lowestoft Depot – PSV or HGV mechanical experience is great however we love to hear from ex-Forces personnel with an engineering apprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other automotive sectors looking for a change.

Key Details:

• £21.55 per hour


• Weekend premium rate of £22.19 per hour


• Minimum 39 hours per week


• Approx. £43,703 per annum


• 5 days over 7 (including weekends)


• Rotation of early and late shifts


• £2,000 JOINING BONUS!

In this hands‑on role, you'll keep vehicles running safely and reliably by diagnosing faults, completing mechanical repairs and replacing parts when needed. You'll carry out scheduled servicing, routine inspections and preventative maintenance, as well as responding to on‑road breakdowns and recoveries. You'll also road test vehicles where required and make sure all documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Do you have a Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair?


• Do you have experience working on HGV or PSV?


• Do you have a valid UK driving licence?


• Do you also have a strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics?

*Joining Bonus - terms apply. Paid in two instalments, first after your 4 month probationary period is completed, second after completion of 12 months in your role. Available to new team members joining us for the first time or returning to us after more than 12 months
