Job summary

First Military Recruitment are seeking a PSV/HGV Mechanic to join a well-established engineering team in Norwich. You will service, diagnose, repair and inspect a modern fleet, prioritising safety and reliability.

The role offers £21.12 per hour with weekend/unsociable hour premiums, a £2,000 joining bonus, overtime opportunities, and ongoing technical training for career progression.

Qualifications

• NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or City & Guilds equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Experience working on PSV or HGV vehicles preferred; Light Vehicle Technicians welcome.
• Ex-military engineers with an engineering apprenticeship encouraged to apply.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Flexible approach to work across maintenance activities.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• PCV licence is desirable but not essential, as full training can be provided.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing and component replacement.
• Identify vehicle faults and determine repair methods and required parts.
• Complete routine servicing and scheduled vehicle inspections.
• Use handheld diagnostic and data capture devices where applicable.
• Attend roadside vehicle breakdowns and recovery callouts when required.
• Carry out vehicle road tests to identify faults and verify repairs.
• Ensure maintenance work is completed safely and in accordance with standards.
• Accurately complete all maintenance documentation and service records.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out servicing, diagnostics, repairs, inspections and breakdown support while ensuring the highest standards of safety and reliability.
