Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Prototype Build Technician for a contract role in Leamington Spa, supporting prototype transmission builds and driveline testing within an automotive engineering environment. The role focuses on building, stripping, and testing prototype transmissions to support development and early production activities.

You will work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams, applying fault-finding skills and precise measurement techniques to ensure build quality and project

Qualifications

• Extensive experience assembling complex prototype systems.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and verify part quality.
• Experience using measurement techniques, including CMM.
• Fabrication and modification using lathes, milling machines, drills and welders.
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Strip and build prototype transmissions per manuals and guidance.
• Identify build issues and implement improvements for future production.
• Strip and inspect unfamiliar transmissions with limited instructions.
• Instrument and modify test units as directed by engineering.
• Report build issues and support 8D investigations.
• Maintain housekeeping and follow storage and parts-picking processes.
• Contribute to workshop and production standards.
