Job summary

Matchtech client in the UK is seeking a Prototype Technician on a permanent basis. You will manufacture prototypes, perform electro-mechanical assembly, and work from engineering drawings and schematics to support cutting-edge development projects.

You will provide technical PCB and cable design support, contribute to DFx activities, troubleshoot issues, and assist with internal document improvements. A technical apprenticeship or engineering degree is preferred, with eligibility for SC

Qualifications

• Experience in soldering and assembly of electro-mechanical components and PCBs.
• Proficiency in manufacturing prototypes and working to engineering drawings.
• Understanding of electronic engineering principles in a development environment.
• Knowledge of hand placement of surface mount technologies and cable forming.
• Modification and repair of PCBs and box builds.
• Technical apprenticeship or degree in engineering (or relevant subject) or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture required prototypes in line with project requirements, including working under magnification (e.g. microscopes) and soldering components down to 0201 size/BGA rework.
• Electro-mechanical assembly of products.
• Work to engineering drawings and schematics.
• Provide technical support on PCB, cable and product design, component selection, design for manufacture, and development engineering.
• Support manufacturing-related activities as required.
• Provide specialist advice and ideas on new and emerging technologies to support prototype manufacture.
• Troubleshoot and repair non-conforming products.
• Cooperate in the raising and improving of internal documents, including but not limited to concessions, test reports, and work instructions.
