Job summary

Arup seeks a Structural Engineer to join its protective design team in London or Manchester, working on resilient design, blast engineering and hostile vehicle mitigation across multiple markets. You will collaborate with architecture, SMEP, façade engineering, transport and other disciplines to deliver secure facilities.

The role requires a strong background in mainstream structural design, experience with relevant materials, and an ability to communicate threat concepts clearly.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in civil/structural engineering and chartership plans.
• UK Security Clearance or eligibility to obtain clearance.
• Experience with steel, reinforced concrete, timber and/or masonry design per BS/Eurocodes.

Responsibilities

• Utilise knowledge of mainstream structural engineering design and model structures against dynamic loading.
• Provide technical input across resilience, security and risk projects.
• Support threat and vulnerability risk assessments for malicious threats.
• Develop risk-based security strategies integrating protective design and blast engineering.
• Carry out blast modelling using CFD and finite element methods.
• Design Hostile Vehicle Mitigation measures for protective design strategies.
