Arup is a global consultancy delivering advisory and technical expertise across more than 150 disciplines. We are seeking Graduate Blast Engineers to join our team in Manchester (also London) to perform blast analysis and design of structural and façade systems, collaborating with architects, engineers and project managers to integrate solutions into the built environment.

This role involves a designer's empathy with form and function, working outside mandatory codes in a risk-based framework,

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Structural Engineering with Architecture.
• Excellent written, verbal and sketch communication skills.
• Interest/experience in Fluid Dynamics, Structural Dynamics, Post-elastic non-linear Structural Response.
• Strong understanding of Structural Behaviour and philosophy of Structural Design.

Responsibilities

• Prepare blast engineering analysis and design of structural and façade systems in collaboration with architects, engineers and project managers.
• Work with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate design solutions into the built environment.
• Develop design basis and meet risk-based requirements outside traditional codes of practice.
• Manage client relationships and involve clients in decision-making about blast performance, risk, and costs.
• Develop Hostile Vehicle Mitigation strategies to complement blast load assumptions.
