Job summary

Arup in the UK is seeking a Consultant to join our protective design engineering team, focusing on blast engineering and hostile vehicle mitigation across varied market sectors. You'll model structures against transient loads and contribute to risk-based security strategies in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.

The role offers opportunities to work across London/Mancester offices with occasional travel, aiming for chartership with ICE or IStructE, and requires UK security clearance

Qualifications

• Masters degree in civil/structural engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in protective design or blast engineering is desirable.
• Knowledge of UK standards and Eurocodes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilise knowledge of mainstream structural design and model against dynamic loads.
• Provide technical input across resilience, security and risk projects.
• Support threat and vulnerability assessments for malicious threats.
• Develop risk-based security strategies and protective design solutions.
• Carry out blast modelling using engineering software.
• Design structural blast and façade blast measures for diverse projects.
• Develop Hostile Vehicle Mitigation measures as part of protective design.
