Legal & General Group is recruiting an Initial Risk Underwriter to join the Retail Protection team. You’ll assess applications, consider risk factors and make fair, balanced decisions while building technical underwriting knowledge.

You don’t necessarily need a traditional underwriting background; life assurance or medical/scientific experience is welcome. We offer a competitive base salary and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience in initial risk assessment within protection or life cover.
• Ability to review applications and reach balanced decisions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review applications and assess risk factors.
• Make balanced underwriting decisions within authority.
• Escalate complex cases when needed.
• Request information from customers and medical professionals.
• Respond clearly to customer and stakeholder queries.
• Record case information and decisions accurately.
