Qualifications

• Mortality/morbidity risk factors understanding or relevant knowledge for underwriting development.
• Experience in life assurance, protection, customer service or pre-sales underwriting, or relevant medical/scientific background.
• Desire to pursue a career in underwriting and develop expertise.
• Ability to review different information and reach balanced decisions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organisation and workload prioritisation.
• Awareness of Life/Critical Illness/Income Protection products.
• Knowledge of regulation or underwriting systems; training available where needed.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing customer applications and assessing relevant risk factors.
• Making balanced underwriting decisions within your authority level.
• Escalating complex cases when required.
• Requesting information from customers and medical professionals.
• Responding clearly and professionally to queries from customers and stakeholders.
• Recording case information and decisions accurately.
• Building knowledge of protection products, regulation and underwriting requirements.
• Supporting positive customer outcomes and service standards.
