Job summary

SSEN Transmission, a division of SSE plc, seeks a Protection Technical Assurance Engineer to support safe, reliable protection IED deployment across the transmission network. You will assess, test, and maintain IED configurations and guidance with PAC/RTS experts, ensuring compliance and quality in project deliveries.

Applicants should have hands-on IED testing experience and a degree or equivalent engineering background. A hybrid working pattern is available with base locations across Scotland.

Qualifications

• Experience configuring and testing protection IEDs.
• Knowledge of protection, automation and control systems and standards (IEC 61850, DNP3).
• Relevant engineering qualification (HND/degree) and ability to assess technical issues.

Responsibilities

• Assess new/existing protection IEDs against requirements and standards.
• Create and maintain standardised IED configuration files and test routines.
• Maintain approved IED guidance, records and documentation.
• Support library updates and integration activity with vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Provide input into deviation requests and risk assessments.
