Job summary

SSE plc is recruiting a Protection Field Engineer to support the transmission network across Aberdeenshire and surrounding areas. The role focuses on protection and control systems, with responsibilities including commissioning, maintenance and outage coordination.

The role requires HV experience up to 400 kV, a relevant electrical engineering qualification, and willingness to travel. A full UK driving license is essential, with a flexible base in Scotland.

Qualifications

• HNC level qualification in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with protection and control systems in HV networks.
• Ability to read and interpret protection diagrams and schematics.
• Experience with testing and fault-finding on secondary wiring and protective devices.

Responsibilities

• Manage protection and control systems to ensure high network reliability.
• Assist in delivering the multi-million-pound capital delivery programme and commission new protection assets.
• Support field protection activities including commissioning, maintenance, outages, and budget liaison.
• Willingness to travel to various locations and work on remote sites as needed.
• Participate in a paid out-of-hours standby rota due to 24/7/365 HV network operations.
