Job summary

Expert Employment in the United Kingdom is seeking a Propulsion Test Engineer to fit, test and optimise propulsion systems for next-generation sustainable tech. You will install instrumentation, rig systems to testing platforms, and help commission devices under test.

The role requires 3+ years of propulsion testing experience, and strong diagnostic skills with engine ECU and battery BMS. GCSEs in math/English/science are expected; an engineering apprenticeship is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of electronic control systems and propulsion technology.
• Experience diagnosing engine ECU and battery BMS systems is desirable.
• Apprenticeship or certification in engineering adds value.

Responsibilities

• Install instrumentation on propulsion systems including engines, batteries and electric motors.
• Set up and rig systems to testing platforms such as dynamometers and battery test chambers.
• Assist engineers with commissioning and preparing the device under test (DUT) for operation.
• Operate testing facilities to measure parameters, monitor DUT performance and optimise control settings.
• Contribute to development through hardware adjustments and problem solving.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of electronic control systems.
• Maintain awareness of battery and electric motor technology.
