Job summary

Serco is seeking a Maintenance Operative to deliver essential maintenance across a defined portfolio, ensuring safety and compliance with Home Office standards. The role supports living environments that are safe and welcoming, with a hands-on approach to repairs, PAT testing, and liaison with subcontractors.

The position requires building maintenance experience, health and safety knowledge, and a UK driving licence.

Qualifications

Experience in building maintenance or a relevant trade.
Knowledge of health and safety principles and safe working practices.
Ability to prioritise work and manage time effectively.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with colleagues and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Provide general building maintenance services across a defined property area.
Report and close faults using the AORA IT system to keep property records accurate.
Ensure properties meet Home Office standards and are free from defects.
Liaise with subcontractors and ensure access, quality and audits.
Carry out annual Portable Appliance Tests (PAT) for properties in your portfolio.
Support colleagues with fault-finding and specialist trade duties where applicable.
Carry out garden maintenance, furniture repairs, and materials management with approved suppliers.
Manage waste removal in line with recycling requirements.
Complete KPI-driven tasks, prioritising urgent work and coordinating with Housing Officers.
