Unite Group is seeking a Maintenance Operative to keep student accommodation properties safe, well maintained and running smoothly. You will work as part of the property team, carrying out hands-on maintenance tasks and supporting planned inspections to ensure high standards across the buildings.

This role offers variety and problem-solving opportunities, with potential to contribute to creating a safe, comfortable environment for residents and to grow within a values-led organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience in a maintenance, facilities or property maintenance role or similar hands-on environment.
• Ability to carry out general repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Basic understanding of health and safety procedures and safe working practices.
• Practical and solutions-focused with good problem-solving skills.
• Enjoys teamwork but can work independently.
• Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
• Experience with building systems such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Carry out hands-on reactive maintenance tasks and resolve issues to a high standard.
• Support planned maintenance and inspections to keep buildings safe and operational.
• Maintain high property standards through low-level repairs and upkeep in communal areas.
• Support health and safety compliance and follow safe working practices.
• Respond to maintenance requests and resident queries promptly and professionally.
• Identify and report issues, ensuring they are logged and tracked.
• Support emergency response as a first-line responder when required.
• Collaborate with colleagues to provide operational support across the property.
