Job summary

STOP THE TRAFFIK Group is recruiting a Project Officer to support the delivery of prevention programmes, coordinating campaigns, research and partnerships. The role involves planning, maintaining documentation and assisting with budgets and reporting.

Summary of the role

STOP THE TRAFFIK is a global organisation working to prevent human trafficking and exploitation. We bring together data, intelligence, technology and partnerships to build a deeper understanding of how exploitation operates, where risks are emerging and who is most at risk. This knowledge informs our prevention campaigns and programmes, which use targeted, evidence-led approaches to reach people with relevant information and support before exploitation occurs.

Safer Futures is one of the major pieces of work within STOP THE TRAFFIK’s prevention programme, focused on preventing child exploitation. It brings together a number of connected areas of prevention activity, including regional campaigns, national awareness activity and a youth-centred reporting channel.

Like our wider prevention projects, the work is informed by data, intelligence and evidence about the risks facing communities and the audiences we are seeking to reach. In this context, the It combines targeted communications, partnerships, technology, safeguarding and learning to develop and deliver practical prevention activity.

About the role

The Project Officer plays a key role in supporting the delivery of STOP THE TRAFFIK’s prevention programmes. This is a varied and hands-on role, working across projects and workstreams to keep activity organised, on track and delivered to a high standard.

The role will suit someone who is highly organised, adaptable and proactive, and who is comfortable managing a varied workload. You will work closely with Prevention Managers and Programme Leads, as well as colleagues across STOP THE TRAFFIK and external partners. You will support the practical delivery of campaigns, research, communications, events, partnerships, reporting and other programme activity as required.

Key responsibilities

Project support

• Support Prevention Managers and with the planning and delivery of prevention projects and programmes.
• Maintain project plans, trackers, timelines, actions and other delivery documents.
• Coordinate meetings, workshops, events and other programme activities, including agendas, logistics and follow-up actions.
• Track progress against agreed milestones and flag risks, issues or delays to the relevant manager or lead.
• Support multiple projects or workstreams at the same time, adapting priorities as project needs change.

Partnerships and coordination

• Support engagement with external partners, including community organisations, schools, statutory services and other relevant stakeholders.
• Coordinate information, actions and contributions across internal teams and external partners.
• Prepare meeting materials, take notes and track actions where required.
• Support engagement and visibility across the STOP THE TRAFFIK and OASIS schools network.

Administration and reporting

• Maintain accurate records and shared documentation.
• Support the preparation of reports, briefings, presentations and other programme materials.
• Assist with budgets, expenditure tracking, invoices or other administrative processes where required.

Campaign, communications and content

• Support the delivery of social media and other public-facing prevention campaigns.
• Assist with preparing, adapting and coordinating campaign content and materials.
• Support the collection and organisation of campaign performance data and audience feedback.
• Use Canva or other relevant tools to produce or adapt simple visual materials where required.

Person specification

We are looking for someone with substantive relevant experience, including experience delivering multi-year projects or programmes, project design and strategy, especially in fast-paced environments. STOP THE TRAFFIK is an intelligence and technology-led organisation, so familiarity with these is sought after. However, we are deliberately open to candidates that have different professional and sector backgrounds, and welcome career switchers and people who bring transferable experience from adjacent fields. We do not expect you to have experience with all of the following, but success candidates will show competency and relevant experience in one or more of the following:

• Experience working in a busy environment where you have managed a varied workload, balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
• Some experience supporting the delivery of projects, programmes, campaigns or other initiatives from planning through to completion.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to keep track of tasks, deadlines, information and actions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and external partners.
• Good problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying issues and finding practical solutions.
• Comfortable working independently while knowing when to ask for support or elevate an issue.
• Confident using Microsoft Office or equivalent tools, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Transferable experience will be considered – what we are looking for is demonstrable organisation skills.

• Experience working in human trafficking, modern slavery, exploitation, human rights, child protection, safeguarding, youth services or related fields.
• Experience in communications, public awareness, social media or digital campaigns.
• Experience using social media platforms as part of professional or campaign activity.
• Experience using Canva or other design and content-production tools.
• Experience supporting behaviour-change, awareness or public engagement activity.
• Experience working with research, intelligence, data or monitoring and evaluation.
• Experience working with schools, government, statutory services, NGOs, community organisations or other external partners.

We do not require any additional qualifications, rather, candidates must demonstrate previous experience in an environment with transferrable skills to this position.
