This is an exciting opportunity to be part of delivering Network Rail’s sustainability commitments. The Project Manager will deliver carbon reduction on our vehicle road fleet by implementing electrification vehicle charging infrastructure and other technologies throughout Scotland, to meet the committed net zero targets.
The Project Manager will collaborate with multiple business customers and suppliers to deliver the Road fleet decarbonisation projects within scope, budget, and quality standards, efficiently meeting the targets outlined in the control period business plan.
About the role (External)
Key duties include:
- Delivering a portfolio of projects.
- Providing professional project management services, including monitoring and reporting systems.
- Developing and implementing project management standards, processes, and procedures.
- Planning and delivering specific programmes/projects on time, within budget, and according to success criteria and corporate guidelines.
- Preparing investment proposals and plans in line with Investment Regulations.
- Managing projects within the assurance framework and meeting KPIs for project management activities.
- Developing and managing suppliers and staff to meet safety, quality, and environmental standards, and sharing lessons learned.
- Establishing and managing cross-functional teams for change projects.
- Implementing quality and efficiency improvements.
- Enhancing staff capability and professional development within the project management team.
- Liaising with internal and external customers to understand and address their needs.
- Participating in supply strategies and framework contract development.
- Controlling project change, risks, and contingencies, and providing cost and schedule details for approval.
- Ensuring a safe working environment, including developing safety plans and documentation.
- Discharging Network Rail’s CDM duties as required.
- Identifying training needs for safety, technical, and management areas and supporting personal development.
- Having knowledge of electric vehicles and related infrastructure/technologies.
Qualifications and skills:
- Degree or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience in project management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, especially CDM.
- Leadership skills to motivate teams.
- Financial and commercial understanding.
- Membership of the Association for Project Management or similar professional body.
Preferred additional qualifications:
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt.
- Knowledge of investment processes and procedures.
- Understanding of project and contract management.
