Job summary

Walker & Sloan is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee a portfolio of live construction schemes across the North West, North East, Scottish Borders and Scotland. You will balance multiple projects with autonomy, focusing on programme, procurement, client relationships and commercial performance.

You will regularly visit sites, proactively identify risks, coordinate resources, and work with Site Managers to ensure on-time delivery and profitable handover.

The Opportunity

A leading specialist contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to oversee multiple smaller projects across the North West, North East, Scottish Borders and Scotland.

Rather than being based on one large site, you will manage a portfolio of live schemes at different stages of delivery. Projects include cold-storage facilities, cleanrooms, fire-rated construction and specialist refurbishment works, giving you a varied workload and a high degree of autonomy.

Role Overview

You will take overall responsibility for several projects simultaneously, supporting Site Managers while maintaining control of programme, commercial performance, procurement and client relationships. You will regularly visit live sites, identify risks early and make sure resources and information are in place before they become constraints.

You will work closely with commercial and operational colleagues to keep each project profitable and on programme, while remaining the key point of contact for clients throughout delivery. Procurement, technical coordination, subcontractor performance, reporting and successful handover will all form part of your role.

This position will suit someone who enjoys balancing multiple priorities and moving between projects rather than focusing on one single development for an extended period.

About You

You are an experienced Project Manager with a track record of managing several live construction projects at the same time. A background with a specialist contractor, subcontractor, fit-out business or technically focused construction company would be particularly relevant.

You are commercially aware, highly organised and confident managing client expectations, project programmes and subcontractor performance. Experience within cold storage, cleanrooms, fire protection or controlled environments would be advantageous. You will ideally hold SMSTS, an appropriate CSCS Card and a full UK driving licence, with the flexibility to travel throughout the North UK region.
