Job summary

White-Recruitment is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead construction projects in Worthing and the South East. You will plan, coordinate and deliver projects from inception to handover, managing multidisciplinary teams, clients and subcontractors to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery and high-quality standards.

The role requires strong leadership, extensive site experience, and a proactive approach to risk, safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Higher Diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Surveying or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience managing construction projects.
  • Proven experience delivering commercial, healthcare, education, residential, heritage or public sector developments.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, contracts and project planning.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and budget management experience.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Chartered status or working towards professional accreditation.
  • SMSTS, IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
  • Experience using Microsoft Project, Primavera P6 or similar planning software.
  • Knowledge of BIM processes and digital project management platforms.
  • Experience managing refurbishment, fit-out and heritage restoration projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage construction projects from inception through to completion.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project programmes and monitor progress against milestones.
  • Lead site teams, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and stakeholders.
  • Chair project meetings and provide regular progress updates to senior management and clients.
  • Coordinate procurement activities and ensure timely delivery of materials and specialist packages.
  • Monitor project costs alongside the commercial team to maximise profitability.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and site regulations.
  • Drive quality assurance processes and ensure works meet specifications.
  • Oversee commissioning, snagging, practical completion and handover.
  • Manage project documentation, reporting and change control.
  • Mentor and support engineers, site managers and junior team members.
  • Promote collaboration and continuous improvement for client satisfaction.

My client is a leading construction and project delivery specialist with an established reputation for delivering high-quality commercial, healthcare, education, residential, heritage and public sector projects. Working across refurbishment, fit-out, conservation and new-build developments, they are committed to delivering projects safely, sustainably and to the highest standards of quality.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, my client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its team in Worthing, West Sussex, overseeing projects from pre-construction through to successful completion across the South East.

The Role

The Project Manager will take full responsibility for the planning, coordination and delivery of construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary project teams, manage client relationships and coordinate subcontractors while ensuring commercial performance and operational excellence throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
