Job summary

Mace is seeking a lead Project Manager to drive the delivery of a Ministry of Justice project. You will oversee a multi-disciplinary consultant team and manage stakeholders both on site in Hull and in the wider region, ensuring delivery to time, cost and quality targets.

The role involves hybrid working with on-site attendance 2-3 days a week and flexible home/office days as required. You will be part of a larger program delivering prisoner placement works.

Qualifications

  • Project management experience on small to medium projects.
  • MCIOB/MAPM/MRICS or equivalent professional pathway.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in project management or construction.
  • CSCS card or equivalent construction certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project delivery against the Project Execution Plan and KPI targets.
  • Manage project team and stakeholders to meet time, cost, quality targets.
  • Oversee budget, risks and mitigations; monitor health, safety and wellbeing.
  • Maintain robust quality systems and documentation; lead meetings and site walks.
  • Coordinate changes and ensure records are up to date.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support client and contract requirements.
  • Drive net zero carbon initiatives during delivery.

The project:

The projects incorporate the latest modern methods of construction and standardised processes. The successful candidate will be the lead Project Manager throughout the delivery of a project which is already progressing on site. This role sits in our consultancy business, specifically the justice sector.

This position will suit a candidate looking to further their career that is fast passed and industry leading. This is a client-facing role based partly on site where you will be responsible for managing wider consultant teams and project stakeholders and working with the project team to deliver the project successfully. This project is linked to a wider programme of projects delivering new prisoner places and therefore the successful candidate will be part of a much larger team of individuals working to deliver other works on site.

A great opportunity for a Project Manager to join our established Ministry of Justice sector within Mace. The existing team has a proven track record of successfully delivering a wide variety of projects of the highest quality across the MoJ prison portfolio.

This role will provide experience in project delivery throughout the construction and handover stage to meet defined time, cost, technical performance and quality requirements. You will be highly motivated, understand developing a project plan and support with leading an existing professional team to drive forward the clients’ strategy.

As Project Manager you will successfully lead in all aspects of delivery by building strong working relationships with clients and colleagues and supply chain members.

Please note:

The role entails hybrid working with attendance on site expected - the project is approaching handover and whilst exact requirements can be flexible, envisage site attendance 2-3 no. days a week. Remaining days working from home or a Mace regional office as required. EL1 vetting clearances will be required for this role.

Site location is Hull, local Mace office in Leeds.
You’ll Be Responsible For
  • Determining project management, technical services and external resources required for project/s.
  • Delivering project objectives in line with the Project Execution Plan, leads and supervises the project team/s and relevant stakeholders to achieve strategic project key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Monitoring and actively engages in health, safety and wellbeing aspects of the project at all stages.
  • Preparing and modifies where necessary project plans and keeps them updated and relevant over the course of the project/s.
  • Overseeing project timeframes and project budgets and ensures budgets are managed diligently and highlights any risks, challenges and mitigations.
  • Collaborating with relevant parties/stakeholders and ensures robust quality systems are in place and suitably managed and monitored.
  • Managing relevant meetings, providing relevant parties with contextual information and analysis where required and site walks and ensures these are suitably recorded.
  • Partnering with relevant stakeholders and is actively involved in risk management.
  • Effectively coordinates and communicates with all project parties/stakeholders, ensuring completion of responsibilities/tasks and ensures suitable standards and records are recorded and maintained.
  • Documenting and takes ownership of project changes as and when necessary, tracking project changes.
  • Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
You’ll Need To Have
  • Previous work experience in project management (or equivalent).
  • MCIOB/MAPM/MRICS (or working towards) or local equivalent.
  • Tertiary qualifications in related (project management and/or construction related discipline), non-related degree or equivalent professional experience/apprenticeship, combined with a demonstrable intermediate level of role knowledge.
  • Appropriate construction skills certification scheme (CSCS) card or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in project management, managing small to medium sized projects.
  • Developed communication, presentation and project planning and development skills.
  • Developed budgetary oversight expertise.
  • Advanced proficiency in communicating, coordinating activities and collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Proven understanding of project management methodologies and practices.
  • Display strong communication and negotiation skills to support the client/customer focus.
  • Proactively manage internal budgets and fees, delivering agreed outcomes.
