Job summary

GFSL seeks an experienced Project Interface Lead to liaise between MOJ project teams, contractors and GFSL maintenance teams at HMP Highpoint and HMP Chelmsford. This fixed-term 12-month role focuses on coordinating interfaces for expansion works and ensuring timely, safe project delivery.

You will facilitate collaboration across parties, support site managers, and enable informed decisions. Travel between sites is required; 39 hours per week (Mon-Fri) on-site.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders and teams.
• Experience coordinating interfaces across multiple parties.
• IOSH and SMSTS certifications are required or highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Act as the liaison between MOJ project teams, contractors and GFSL maintenance teams to coordinate interfaces.
• Manage site-based project interfaces and mitigate operational risks.
• Ensure continuity between project delivery and business-as-usual maintenance activities.
• Provide operational support to site managers for informed decision-making and smooth handover.

Project Interface Lead

Location: HMP Highpoint (Based CB8 9YG) & HMP Chelmsford (CM26LQ)

Salary: £48,412.56

Contract: Fixed term contract for 12 months

Hours: Full Time, 39 hours - Monday-Friday

Travel: Travel between both Sites Required.

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Project Interface Lead to join our team at HMP Highpoint & HMP Chelmsford, a category C adult male prison.

It takes hundreds of people to keep it functioning and as the Facilities Maintenance Team we are committed and driving the smooth and safe operation. Everything we do impacts every prisoner, employee, and visitor, and wider to the families and community. As a Project Interface Lead you will be the communicator between MOJ project teams, contractors, stakeholders, and GFSL operational maintenance teams, ensuring effective coordination, communication, and resolution of interface issues to support successful project delivery of considerable expansion works. You will facilitate collaboration across all parties, manage site-based project interfaces, mitigate operational risks, and ensure continuity between project implementation and business-as-usual maintenance activities. The role will also provide operational support to GFSL Supervisors and Site Managers to enable informed decision-making and smooth project handover.

We are a Ministry of Justice business and provide critical and time-bound services to HMPPS, and are looking for a Project Interface Lead with a combination of:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Flexibility to adapt to changing project needs and schedules.
• IOSH certification
• SMSTS certification
• Experience working within a similar role in a prison environment is also desirable

Future Plans.

GFSL has been notified by it's shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM Services will in future be delivered by the private sector. This means that following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
