Job summary

Scantec Recruitment is seeking a Project Engineer for a site-based role in Selby, North Yorkshire. You’ll take ownership of engineering projects from concept to completion, supporting facility development and safety improvements.

The role reports to the Projects Manager and requires strong project management within manufacturing, with AutoCAD and design experience. A degree in Chemical Engineering is expected, and the position offers a 40-hour week, holidays, pension and healthcare.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering or similar.
• Strong project management experience in manufacturing.
• Proficient in AutoCAD (2D/3D).
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and DSEAR.
• Experience with process pipework and plant design.
• Excellent drawing control and revision management.

Responsibilities

• Own the full project lifecycle from design to delivery.
• Produce and manage design packs, drawings and risk assessments.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal teams.
• Act as main contact for site project activity and meetings.
• Survey site conditions and develop practical design solutions.
• Maintain plant drawings and process documentation.
• Identify improvements to plant safety, efficiency and reliability.
• Support engineering activities across site.
• Contribute to site safety, health and environmental objectives.

Project Engineer

Location: Selby, North Yorkshire

Salary: £50000 - £55000 plus benefits

Hours: Monday to Friday 08.00 - 16.30

We’re supporting a growing manufacturing business in the search for a Project Engineer to play a key role in delivering site-based engineering projects. This is a varied position where you’ll take ownership of projects from concept through to completion, supporting the ongoing development of the facility.

Reporting to the Projects Manager, you’ll be a driven and organised engineer with strong project management experience and the ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.

The Role

• Take ownership of the full project lifecycle from design through to delivery, commissioning and handover
• Produce and manage project documentation including design packs, drawings and risk assessments
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal teams across engineering and operations
• Act as the main point of contact for site project activity, managing stakeholders and leading project meetings
• Survey site conditions and develop practical design solutions, overseeing installation and commissioning
• Maintain and update plant drawings and process documentation
• Identify and implement improvements to plant safety, efficiency and reliability
• Support general engineering activities across a busy and expanding production site
• Contribute to site safety, health and environmental objectives

What We’re Looking For

• Degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering (or similar discipline)
• Strong project management experience within a manufacturing or process environment
• Proficient in AutoCAD (2D and 3D)
• Working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and DSEAR
• Experience with process pipework and plant design
• Strong attention to detail with drawing control and revision management
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Hands-on, proactive and adaptable approach
• Experience with Inventor would be advantageous
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
