Job summary

Yolk Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Project Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) for a world‑class manufacturing site in Exeter. You will lead capital projects, manage installations and drive improvements across equipment and infrastructure.

Role offers Monday–Friday days, a salary of £55,000–£57,500 plus bonus, private healthcare and life assurance, plus comprehensive sick pay and strong career progression within a global organisation.

Qualifications

• Level 3 or above in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering or relevant experience.
• Experience delivering engineering projects in manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Knowledge of equipment installation, plant upgrades or CI projects.
• Understanding of manufacturing performance and reliability improvements.
• CAD experience; CMMS/Oracle knowledge is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead capital projects involving new machinery, production equipment and site infrastructure.
• Manage equipment installations, upgrades and site improvement projects from concept to completion.
• Specify and source machinery and engineering components.
• Manage contractors; ensure safety, on-time delivery and budget adherence.
• Develop project plans, layouts and manufacturing improvement initiatives.
• Support reliability improvements with long-term engineering solutions.
• Provide technical support during installation, commissioning and handover.
• Maintain technical documentation and ensure safety standards compliance.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading capital projects involving new machinery, production equipment and site infrastructure.
• Managing equipment installations, upgrades and site improvement projects from concept through to completion.
• Specifying and sourcing machinery, equipment and engineering components.
• Managing contractors and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
• Developing project plans, equipment layouts and manufacturing improvement initiatives.
• Supporting reliability improvements by identifying long‑term engineering solutions to recurring equipment issues.
• Providing technical support during installation, commissioning and project handover.
• Maintaining technical documentation and ensuring compliance with engineering and safety standards.

What We're Looking For

• Level 3 or above in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering, or relevant industry experience.
• Experience delivering engineering projects within a manufacturing, production or heavy industrial environment.
• Knowledge of equipment installation, plant upgrades or continuous improvement projects.
• Understanding of manufacturing performance and reliability improvement.
• CAD experience and knowledge of CMMS, Oracle or automation systems would be advantageous.
• A practical engineering background with good knowledge of manufacturing equipment.
• Strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to work across multiple departments.
