Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Corporation in Christchurch, Dorset is seeking a Project Engineer to manage the full project lifecycle on aerospace sensors and solenoid equipment. You will lead customer liaison, develop PDR/CDR design packages, and drive designs from concept to production readiness, with knowledge in magnetic analysis, analogue electronics, pneumatics, and mechanical design.

Qualifications

  • Degree in engineering or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in aerospace or similar high‑reliability industries is preferred.
  • Familiarity with BS8888 drawing practices is desirable.
  • Experience leading project workstreams from concept to production readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare design proposals, including technical presentations, drawings, schedules and costs.
  • Lead engineering projects through NPI to production readiness.
  • Support electro‑mechanical product performance analysis.
  • Create and approve manufacturing drawings with BS8888 and tolerance analyses.
  • Prepare validation/verification documents and compliance matrices.
  • Assist operations with manufacturing/quality issues and disposition of non-conformances.
  • Lead small project teams and support problem solving using 8D tools.

We are looking for a Project Engineer to join our Christchurch, Dorset team!

In this role you will be dealing with all aspects of the project lifecycle from conception to completion, working with sensors and solenoid equipment for commercial and military Aerospace applications. Whilst leading the project you will be the main point of contact and liaison between the customer and the business, generating and delivering PDR/CDR design packages. The ideal candidate for this role will be competent in one or more of the following disciplines: magnetic analysis, analogue electronics, pneumatics, mechanical design.

Your Challenge

  • Preparation of design proposals, including technical presentations, proposal drawings, schedule, verification and validation activities and costs.
  • Lead engineering projects throughout the NPI process to required production readiness levels.
  • Prepare and support electro-mechanical product performance analysis
  • Generate and check/approve manufacturing drawings, requiring high proficiency with BS8888, GDT, tolerance analysis and best drawing practices.
  • Generation and approval of validation and verification documents including compliance matrix, qualification test procedures/reports, DDP's.
  • Support operations with any manufacturing /quality issues making/using technical judgements to approve disposition of non-conformances, engineering change requests.
  • Lead small project teams as required.
  • Support investigation activities using 8D and other similar problem solving tools

What You Bring

  • Degree (or equivalent) educated within a relevant Engineering subject
  • Knowledge of environmental testing
  • Good amount of prior experience in senior project role in the Aerospace industry or similar.
  • Must be familiar with BS8888
  • Solidworks
  • CEng or IEng registered is desirable
