Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a Project Engineer to join the Power Transmission & Distribution team for an overhead line upgrade project operating from Tealing to Aytlh, with a base in Dundee. You will coordinate engineered solutions, guide on-site teams, and ensure high-voltage line upgrades are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

The role requires an electrical/engineering background, people management skills, and a willingness to work away from home.

Qualifications

• Electrical or engineering degree preferred.
• Experience in Utilities/Construction Industry is a plus.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams to solutions.
• Willing to work away from home on site locations.

Responsibilities

About the role

Join ourPower Transmission & Distribution teamand play a key role in delivering a majorOverhead Line (OHL) upgrade project running from Tealing to Aylth, with a base in Dundee.This is a critical part of Scotland’s energy infrastructure, designed to strengthen the network and support the transition to a low-carbon future.

As aProject Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of a project that spans multiple sites and involves complex engineering challenges. From formalising delivery solutions to briefing and guiding teams on-site, your work will ensure the successful upgrade of high-voltage overhead lines that keep communities connected and power flowing across the region.

What you'll be doing

• Develop and deliver the engineered solution and brief to the working party
• Safely and sustainably deliver activity to programme, cost and quality
• Monitor and record works to ensure compliance in a timely manner
• Support and develop an environment where the working party can thrive and succeed
• Effectively manage and care for the people delivering the work

Who we're looking for

• HNC/HND/Degree in an electrical or engineering discipline would be preferable and/or relevant Site Experience with the Utilities / Construction Industry
• Comfortable with ambiguity, able to tease out sensitive issues and lead cross-functional teams towards solutions.
• Ability to work across conflicting interest groups to develop solutions to complexoperational and commercial problems
• People Management experience and relationship management skills
• Commercial awareness with knowledge of both budgetary and Financial control.
• Knowledge of Project Management methodology.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Willing to work away from home.
