Job summary

Balfour Beatty Power T&D in Derby is seeking a Senior CAD Technician to produce drawings and material schedules to the required standard, and to assist in checking documents from the team. You will help develop working methods to improve output and support junior staff on multiple projects.

Essentials include CAD experience (MicroStation or AutoCAD), strong Excel skills, and good time-management. An ONC or equivalent in engineering is required.

  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office applications especially Excel.
  • Capable of managing time well and planning ahead while working on multiple projects.
  • ONC or equivalent in engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Produce a range of drawings and material schedules to the required standard first time and within time scales.
  • Assist in checking documents produced by other team members.
  • Actively develop working methods to improve output quality and quantity.
  • Produce a range of documents as required by a project and liaise with designers and operations to determine practical interpretations.
  • Assist in estimating timescales for specific tasks and production of reports and enquiry documentation.
  • Train junior staff and direct contract/agency personnel and technicians.

About the role

Balfour Beatty Power T&D are looking for a Senior CAD Technician to join their team in Derby.



Role Purpose


  • Produce a range of Drawings and Material Schedules to the required standard first time and within time scales set.

  • Assist in the checking of Documents produced by other members of the team.

  • To actively develop working methods to improve the quality and quantity of the output.



What you'll be doing

Accountabilities


  • To produce a range of documents as required by a specific project.

  • Liaise as necessary with the designer and operations personnel to determine the most suitable and practical interpretation of design requirements.

  • To comply with project and function specific standards and practices.

  • To assist in the estimation of timescales for a specific task.

  • To assist in the production of reports and enquiry documentation.

  • To assist in the training of junior members of staff and direct contract/agency personnel & technicians with their duties.

  • To act safely and work to eliminate hazards at source.

  • Produce accurate packages with minimum of rework

  • Produce accurate and complete records

Who we're looking for

Experience :

Essential


  • Cad experience - MicroStation or AutoCad

  • Wire Clearance Diagrams

  • Insulator Set Drawings (components to BS 3288)
