Job summary

Futures in Burton upon Trent is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to deliver engineering and capital projects across a busy, highly automated manufacturing site. You will own projects from concept through installation, commissioning and handover, working with engineering, operations and wider site teams.

The role requires a background in manufacturing CAPEX, experience with automated equipment, strong project management, and excellent stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering engineering or CAPEX projects in manufacturing.
• Experience with automated production equipment and processes.
• Engineering qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Automation or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering and capital projects from concept to completion.
• Support installation and commissioning of new equipment.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Engineer to join a well-established, highly automated manufacturing business based around Burton upon Trent.

The company is currently experiencing an impressive period of growth and investment, creating an opportunity for a Project Engineer to play a key role in the delivery of engineering and capital projects across a busy manufacturing site.

The Role

Working closely with Engineering, Operations and wider site teams, you will take ownership of engineering projects from initial concept through to installation, commissioning and handover.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing engineering and capital projects from concept through to completion.
• Supporting the introduction and installation of new manufacturing equipment and technology.
• Developing project scopes, specifications, timelines and budgets.
• Coordinating contractors, suppliers and internal engineering teams.
• Managing project costs and ensuring delivery against agreed timescales.
• Supporting equipment installation, commissioning, validation and handover.
• Identifying opportunities to improve automation, reliability, efficiency and site performance.
• Ensuring projects are delivered in line with relevant Health & Safety and engineering standards.
• Working cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Operations, Quality and other key stakeholders.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer with a background in a manufacturing, production or engineering-led environment.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience delivering engineering or CAPEX projects within manufacturing.
• Experience working with automated production equipment and manufacturing processes.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience working with equipment suppliers, contractors and OEMs.
• Knowledge of equipment installation, commissioning and continuous improvement.
• A recognised engineering qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Automation or a related discipline.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
