TXM Recruit is seeking a Project Engineer in Bedford to join an established engineering business working on bespoke projects. You will oversee project delivery, customer liaison, supplier management and coordination of internal engineering teams from planning through to handover.

The role suits an experienced Project Engineer or an engineer stepping into project-focused responsibilities, with opportunities to progress into Project Management. Travel within the UK is required as projects demand.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Project Engineer or similar engineering project role.
• Experience managing engineering projects from start to finish.
• Strong technical understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.
• Good commercial awareness, including budgets, cost control and change management.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from initial planning through to completion.
• Develop and maintain project plans, milestones and budgets.
• Manage customer requirements, communication and expectations.
• Coordinate engineering, manufacturing, installation and external suppliers.
• Manage internal and external resources.
• Monitor project costs, forecasts and changes.
• Support procurement and supplier management.
• Coordinate testing, installation, commissioning and handover.
• Identify project risks and put mitigation plans in place.
• Ensure projects meet required quality, safety and customer standards.
• Provide regular project updates and reports to senior management.
• Travel within the UK when required.

We are currently recruiting for a Project Engineer to join an established engineering business working on a range of bespoke engineering projects.

This is a varied role covering project delivery, customer liaison, supplier management and coordination of internal engineering teams. You’ll be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from initial planning through to build, installation, commissioning and final handover.

The role would suit an experienced Project Engineer or an engineer looking to take the next step into a project-focused position, with opportunities to progress further into Project Management.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a Project Engineer or similar engineering project role
• Experience managing engineering projects from start to finish
• Strong technical understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors
• Good commercial awareness, including budgets, cost control and change management
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Able to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines
• Engineering qualification or time served engineering apprenticeship

Desirable

• Experience within automotive, automation or industrial engineering
• Experience with installation and commissioning projects
• Previous project management experience
• HNC, HND or Degree in Engineering, Project Management or a related disciplineIND5
