Job summary

Osborne Appointments represents a client seeking a Project Engineer to join their established Projects Team in Bedfordshire.

The role carries ownership from order to installation and handover, with interdepartmental collaboration and responsibility for schedules, documentation and supplier coordination.

• Previous experience in a similar Project Engineering role within a process engineering environment.
• Proven track record of delivering engineering projects.
• Experience using MS Project and AutoCAD LT.

Project Engineer

Location: Bedfordshire

Salary: Up to £55,000

Hours: Monday to Friday

Job Type: Permanent

Commute: This candidate must hold a Full UK driving linseces with access to their own vehicle.

Our client is looking for a Project Engineer to join their established Projects Team.

Main Responsibilities

• Take ownership of projects from order through to successful installation and handover.


• Develop and agree project scope with customers and the Sales Team.


• Act as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle.


• Create, manage and maintain project schedules, including Gantt charts.


• Produce and maintain project documentation, including project numbers, Scope of Supply, timing plans, P&IDs, BOMs and provisional layout drawings.


• Specify and source purchased components and equipment.


• Manage project changes and communicate these effectively with relevant stakeholders.


• Coordinate equipment delivery and installation.


• Organise and support Customer Acceptance Testing (FAT/PDI).


• Manage packing and shipping arrangements, including export documentation where required.


• Develop installation plans and coordinate installation resources and RAMS documentation.


• Oversee Site Acceptance Testing.


• Coordinate customer training and documentation handover.


• Manage subcontractors during installation where required.


• Maintain strong commercial awareness throughout each project, ensuring invoicing milestones are achieved on time.


• Work collaboratively with internal departments to ensure projects are delivered successfully.

About You

• Previous experience in a similar Project Engineering role within a process engineering environment.


• A proven track record of successfully delivering engineering projects.


• Experience using MS Project.


• Experience using AutoCAD LT.


• Strong engineering knowledge and the ability to understand and manage technical requirements.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


• The ability to build effective relationships with customers, suppliers and internal teams.


• A proactive, enthusiastic and practical 'can-do' attitude.


• Good commercial awareness and strong organisational skills.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Excel and Word.


• Knowledge of steam systems, pneumatics, hydraulics and pipework.


• A basic understanding of electrical control systems would be advantageous.


• A full UK Driving Licence.
